It’s Finally Here—Competitor A/B Test Monitoring!

We’re quite pleased to announce that after receiving numerous requests for competitor A/B test monitoring, it’s now available.

With our new competitor A/B test monitoring technology you’ll know:

  1. When competitors run an A/B test on one of their PPC landing pages or webpages.
  2. When they select a winning variation.
  3. When they begin testing all over again.

This is something that numerous CRO experts have been asking for, and we’re happy to finally be able to deliver it. Here’s a quick peak at what it looks like.

Competitor A/B Test Monitoring in Action

In the example below, Wix.com ran an A/B test for a landing page they were using with the keyword “setting up e commerce website.” Using iSpionage’s new technology, we were able to see that they started the test on July 19 and selected a winner on July 25, as seen below.

When we drill in, we can get a better idea of what the two pages looked like to see what they were testing.

Variation #1:

Variation #2:

Variation2

So which one do you think was the winner? I’ll give you a minute to make your selection.

Now that you’ve had a chance to test your gut, the winning landing page variation was…variation #1. (Let us know in the comments if you selected the winning page.)

Why This Is Valuable

Do you now have a better about how valuable this is for organizations, especially large advertisers with a big enough budget to run tests and make changes based on what they learn?

One of the great things about this kind of technology is that it keeps you apprised of what changes your competition is making while also providing a constant stream of testing ideas for your own conversion rate optimization efforts.

As any good CRO expert will tell you, it’s never a good idea to blindly implement winning variations from another site or campaign. But you can use results from competitor campaigns to influence what tests you decide to run first and to come up with new testing ideas for your pages.

For example, we had a large enterprise customer who spends over a million dollars per month on PPC who discovered a winning headline idea by monitoring their competition. They saw a headline variation they hadn’t thought of before and then considered, “Hmm…if we change this slightly to match our product better, it might work.” They made the change, ran a test, and found out that the headline did in fact outperform their current headline.

The opportunities for this type of monitoring is endless, not to mention your team will automatically be apprised of every single change your competition makes. It ends up being a lot like having your competitors report their updates and campaign changes to you every single morning since you’ll get a daily email updating you of any new competitor changes.
